Buffalo’s architectural heritage is both nationally significant and at risk. Many iconic buildings have been lost, and there was an urgent need to honour this legacy while inspiring contemporary relevance. The Lipsey Architecture Center of Buffalo (LACOB) set out to bridge past and present—advocating for preservation and sparking renewed community engagement in Buffalo’s built environment.
We developed an adaptable, insight-driven brand that celebrates Buffalo’s architectural history while energizing its future. The evolving icon system references the building blocks of great architecture—flexible enough to grow across applications and keep the brand fresh. A vibrant industrial blue anchors the visual identity, drawing from historic schematic drawings to create a visual through-line between heritage and innovation. Every element was designed to be both respectful of the past and dynamic enough to resonate today.
The LACOB brand now acts as a measurable catalyst for awareness and engagement: unifying exhibitions, events, and advocacy under a clear, compelling identity. Its adaptable framework ensures long-term relevance, helping the Center consistently spotlight Buffalo’s architectural legacy while building a sustainable platform for future growth.
